Rabbit peritoneal leukocytes showed reduced random motility and chemotactic responsiveness after incubation in the high molecular weight-fraction of Escherichia coli culture filtrates. Two leukocyte-immobilizing factors appeared in the incubation media. One of these factors was thought to be identical with the migration inhibiting substance described by Udaka. The other immobilizing factor was dialyzable and gave a molecular weight of about 300 by column chromatography. Minimal formation of the factors occurred in the presence of E. coli heat-labile Enterotoxin.
